Our origins

It was the distant 1970 when, a young ispicese, Michele Solarino, returned from America and decided to invest all his savings in opening a bar. The “American Bar” is born in memory of that wonderful adventure lived outside of Italy.

It was one of the first “trendy” bars in Ispica, and soon became a meeting point for young people from Ispica. Michele has managed over the years to grow his company, always remaining a reference and meeting point for young and old.

After the premature death of Michele, Bruno, the then-boyfriend of his eldest daughter, takes over the bar.

A family story

In the management of the company, husband and wife are joined by the eldest of the three children, Vincenzo.
Even if Michele and Antonio, have taken different paths, they are actively involved in the life of the company, believing strongly in the potential of the work we carry out. We are a family united not only by affection, but also by the passion for craftsmanship and the enhancement of our land.

From the outset, we felt the need to acquire more skills and “keep up with the times”. This need translates into the <b>continuous search for excellent raw materials</b> to make high quality products, with a strong commitment to make them as natural as possible.

It is this search for authenticity that has led us to change the name of our company. Since we have nothing American, we chose to call it <b>”Bruno Sicilian Tastes”</b>, a name that fully represents our identity and the <b> connection with our land. </b>

Our laboratory

Our goal is to create more and more natural cakes, without the use of semi-finished products or chemical additives, to offer a genuine and authentic product. Creating confectionery specialties inspired by the Sicilian tradition, a continuous tribute to our beloved “Sicilia bedda”. The workshop is the heart of our activity, the place where Bruno makes his cakes, day after day with care and dedication, here he is <strong>daily “refreshed” the mother yeast,</strong> thanks to him Bruno manages to make small and large leavened by the ancient scents and flavors, which bring back to mind the <strong>ancient flavors of our grandmothers and ancient sweets.</strong> In our workshop you will find only excellent products, no semi-finished products, but <strong>much care and passion.</strong> Our confectionery creations describe the strength and tradition of our land, but also the modernity of our times.

Our company and the artisan workshop are located in Ispica, inside the historic “American Bar”, where you can taste and buy our confectionery specialties, including granite, ice cream, brioche, cannoli and many other typical Sicilian delicacies, All made with care and local ingredients.
